Vice President, Strategy & Finance – Talento Ventures is a newly created role that serves as the key strategic planning, financial planning & analysis, and business formation leader for TalentoVentures, an emerging venture capital organization with operations in Medellin, Colombia and Miami, United States.
TalentoVentures incubates ventures from TalentoHumanCapital customers and develops a pipeline of new business innovation from its network of relationships with hundreds of millionaires and successful entrepreneurs. TalentoHumanCapital is on a growth trajectory in the staffing and recruiting industry, aiming to reach $1B in revenue by 2040.

Job Summary
As the Vice President, Strategy & Finance for TalentoVentures, you will help found a venture capital fund that builds on a 20-year legacy of launching, growing, and optimizing businesses globally. You will contribute to the organization’s long-term and short-term business plans with a focus on planning, budgeting, and financial performance management. The CFO is a leadership position contributing to strategy with a broad view of general business matters.
Reporting to the CEO, the CFO ensures integrity by providing process knowledge, technical expertise, and reporting leadership with emphasis on timeliness, accuracy, and consistency. You will drive the creation and maintenance of robust operating and financial models, manage annual budgets, oversee the quarterly and annual planning process, track performance against forecast, and participate in steering the business.
Responsibilities
LeadershipDevelop a comprehensive plan for the organization to plan and execute on its objectives.Create balanced scorecards and define KPI’s for effective management.Provide insights and recommendations to the CEO and leadership team to ensure growth plans are on track.Implement policies, procedures and processes to scale and manage the organization effectively.Finance Organization & TalentMentor and develop the finance team, managing work allocation, systems training, performance evaluations, and building an effective team dynamic; serve as a talent champion.Develop a holistic understanding of the company’s financing needs and options.Understand the business and operations; suggest and implement ways to improve performance.Work with executives to establish product-level P&Ls and department budgets.Ensure all finance & accounting functions (month-end close, FP&A, treasury, tax, payroll, etc.) operate smoothly.Investor & Fund ManagementInterface with institutional investors, private equity, banks, and other finance entities on behalf of the organization.Venture Capital Fund LaunchDevelop investment and capital strategy to launch the venture fund in Colombia or the USA.Partner with legal firms to establish appropriate legal entities and structures.Collaborate with the CEO of TalentoHumanCapital as strategic lead for founding the venture capital fund and serve as the first fund member.Portfolio Company Pipeline Development & ManagementDevelop an end-to-end pipeline of companies to invest in.Develop a 10-year portfolio plan covering vision, market fit, financial models, investment thesis, and growth strategy to establish the baseline of portfolio companies.Develop new pipeline opportunities.Financial & Strategic PlanningDevelop FP&A strategy for the venture fund alongside platform and portfolio company financial strategy.Set management cadences and rhythms; coordinate monthly business reviews and materials.Create yearly financial objectives aligned with growth plans; manage budgeting and funding operations.Assess and evaluate financial performance against long-term goals; identify cost reductions and efficiency improvements.Analyze financial data, prepare budgets, monitor expenditures and costs.Manage cash flow planning, investments, and asset management; oversee monthly and annual budgets; coordinate budgets and forecasts.Treasury & Debt ManagementLead fundraising with private equity, sovereign wealth funds, and banks to ensure funding and ROI for investors.Report to lenders / creditors as required.Develop financial valuation models for capital investments.Special ProjectsLead projects and perform other duties as directed by Private Equity investors or Business Unit leadership.Education
Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.Experience
10+ years of work experience with deep focus in finance across topics such as financial effectiveness, CFO advisory, process and policy, technology, operations, organizational structure and strategy, and / or transformation.Experience in developing new businesses from greenfield to maturity.Proven experience as a Finance executive in a high-velocity organization with expertise in organizing and professionalizing business functions.Exceptional practical knowledge of accounting and financial processes, including budgeting, financial closures, and reporting.Experience working with external auditors, internal controls and compliance issues.Experience leading business and finance transformation initiatives.Solid knowledge of GAAP and regulatory requirements.Proficiency in MS Office (Excel) and accounting software; strong attention to detail and problem-solving.Strong analytical and strategic planning skills; effective communication and interpersonal abilities.Behavioral Profile
