Role description : Immunization Data Management Consultancy, Health and HIV unit / Data & Analytics / DAPM, NYHQ, remote (Req# ).
Overview : UNICEF is seeking a qualified consultant to support immunisation data management, data cleaning and processing, and analytics under the supervision of the Statistics and Monitoring Adviser (Immunisation) and in collaboration with team members. The consultant will contribute to maintenance and enhancement of the immunisation database and provide data analytics support for priority countries through the AHEAD project. Some deliverables depend on additional resources.
Responsibilities
Data Management and Quality Assurance : develop templates and code to extract / integrate data from government health information systems (e.g., DHIS2) and other sources; assess and address data quality issues; obtain shapefiles, align with country boundaries, and produce GIS products.Maintain and update the immunisation database; combine modelled estimates with administrative data; compile / harmonize national survey and population datasets to support subnational and national analyses.Data Analytics and Visualization : generate subnational immunisation and health-related estimates; create advocacy outputs (reports, policy briefs, dashboards).Country Capacity-building, Engagement and Technical Support : present findings to Ministries of Health; develop / adapt analytical tools and training; provide technical support and ensure effective communication with UNICEF HQ, regional / country offices, and government counterparts; respond to data requests.Deliverables coordination : support delivery of the Data Management & Quality Assurance, Data Analytics & Visualization, and Country Engagement outputs under the TOR.Scope of Work / Deliverables
Data management and quality assurance deliverables, including routine updates to the immunisation database; targets up to specified dates (e.g., August 2025 / 2026 / 2027) with associated deadlines.District / mother district mapping references; updated shapefile libraries; integration of stock-out / outbreak data into subnational datasets; development of templates and codes for cleaning / standardising region names.Subnational and national immunisation data analytics products; dashboards and visualisations for priority countries; ongoing data processing and analytics for global estimates through the AHEAD project.Qualifications
Education : Advanced university degree in data science, computer science, demography, public health, social sciences, epidemiology, statistics, or related field.Two years of experience at national or international levels in statistical data processing, data analysis, and maintenance of statistical databases.Proven experience in data analysis, compilation, and presentation with a focus on immunisation; strong skills in R (required) and Python or STATA; experience with ETL tools (e.g., Databricks); data visualization skills (R-Shiny, Tableau, Power BI) are an asset; knowledge of global health data systems.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environment; fluent in English; knowledge of French is an asset.Requirements
