Overview
China Three Gorges Latam, world leading renewable energy company, is seeking a Senior M&A Analyst to join the Colombia Strategy & Investment team. The objective of this role is to strengthen the team’s capabilities in identifying, analyzing, and executing investment opportunities in the energy and infrastructure sectors. This position will be responsible for financial modeling, transaction structuring, and due diligence, ensuring that projects align with corporate strategy, regulatory frameworks, and market dynamics. The Senior M&A Analyst will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive successful deal execution and contribute to the management of operational assets.
Specific Duties
Information Review and Document Preparation
- Analyze investment opportunities assigned by the M&A Director.
- Review Teasers, CIMs, VDRs, and other relevant sources.
- Prepare presentations, memorandums, and reports for senior management and headquarters.
- Ensure proper availability and access to project information for stakeholders.
- Review and analyze financial statements and transaction documents, including term sheets, LOIs, MOUs, SPAs, EPCs, PPAs, and Credit Agreements.
Financial Modeling
Build and maintain complex financial models from scratch (valuation, DCF, IRR, project finance structures, sensitivity analyses).Develop assumptions books and ensure compliance with technical, accounting, and tax standards.Review and challenge models built by third parties / advisors to ensure consistency and quality.Update models based on asset performance and public information, preparing comparisons between forecasts and actuals.Incorporate local policy, regulatory environment, and risk considerations into investment analyses.Transaction Execution and Due Diligence
Support the execution of M&A and project finance transactions, including managing due diligence processes, data rooms, and Q&A coordination.Prepare procurement and RFP documents in line with internal control requirements.Engage and negotiate with external advisors, consultants, and banks.Monitor due diligence processes to ensure deliverables meet expected quality and deadlines.Attend meetings, site visits, and discussions with counterparties.Market and Regulatory Analysis
Conduct research and analysis on the Colombian energy sector, including market trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics.Maintain continuous awareness of recent transactions, macroeconomic events, and M&A opportunities.Asset Management Support
Contribute to the monitoring of operational assets, including periodic valuations, impairment tests, and performance analysis.Provide support and guidance to internal departments when required.Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Economics, or related field (required).Postgraduate degree in finance, economics, or related disciplineExperience
3–4 years of relevant experience in investment banking, project finance, strategic consulting, or corporate M&AExperience in the energy or infrastructure sectorExperience in structured financeKnowledge & Skills
Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.Solid understanding of due diligence and transaction structuring.Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.Strong communication and presentation abilities.Languages
