Job Summary
The Operations Director will oversee Medterra’s manufacturing network, leading QA / QC oversight, co-manufacturer management, and supply planning functions. Acting as the bridge between internal innovation and external manufacturing partners, this role ensures products are produced to the highest quality standards, delivered on time, and launched successfully into market. The ideal candidate combines strong operational expertise in regulated CPG environments with the ability to translate innovation goals into scalable, compliant, and commercially viable products.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as primary relationship manager for contract manufacturing partners.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service-level agreements to ensure quality, cost, and delivery expectations are met.
- Develop and manage supplier scorecards to track and improve performance.
Quality Assurance / Quality Control
Lead QA / QC oversight of co-manufacturers, ensuring adherence to GMP and regulatory standards.Manage audit readiness, corrective actions, and quality documentation processes.Partner with external labs and manufacturers on testing protocols and compliance requirements.Supply Planning & Inventory Management
Oversee supply planning team to deliver accurate demand forecasts and inventory optimization.Align production planning with sales, marketing, and finance teams to ensure service levels are met.Monitor risks to supply continuity and implement mitigation plans.New Product Development (NPD) Operations
Manage operational aspects of product launches, ensuring co-manufacturers deliver on timelines, specs, and budgets.Partner cross-functionally with Innovation, Marketing, and Supply Chain to ensure commercial readiness.Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality across co-manufacturer relationships.Implement best practices and process improvements to strengthen operational performance.Performance Reporting
Create and maintain KPIs for supplier performance, QA / QC compliance, supply planning, and launch execution.Report regularly to executive leadership on operational performance and risk management.Key Qualifications & Skills
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree a plus.7+ years in operations, supply chain, QA / QC, or co-manufacturer management within regulated CPG industries.Proven experience managing outsourced manufacturing relationships, including negotiations, contracts, and supplier scorecards.Strong knowledge of GMP standards and regulated manufacturing environments.Demonstrated leadership experience with cross-functional teams (supply chain, QA, planning).Excellent analytical, project management, and communication skills.Preferred
Experience with supply planning software, LIMS, or ERP systems.Familiarity with QA documentation systems and analytical testing processes.Knowledge of regulatory landscapes in CBD / hemp or other health / wellness products (e.g., FDA, ISO).Six Sigma, Lean, or other process improvement certifications.Success Metrics / KPIs
