Role Purpose
The Head of New Business Development – Americas plays a key role in shaping and executing strategy to achieve regional B2B new business targets. Working closely with the Head of Sales and Account Management and the Director of Business Development, the postholder contributes to business planning that identifies opportunities across sectors and drives lead generation. Collaboration with country and regional marketing teams ensures alignment with annual marketing plans that support sales objectives. The role involves continuous monitoring of outbound sales activity and lead pipelines to ensure the team remains on track to meet annual targets.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to and help implement strategy to achieve B2B new business targets.Collate business plans with Head of Sales, Account Management and Director of Business Development, targeting opportunities across sectors within the local market to drive lead generation.Work with country and regional marketing teams to ensure an annual marketing plan that supports sales targets.Monitor outbound sales activity and the inbound / outbound lead pipeline to keep the team on track to meet annual targets.Identify and connect with potential new clients using target profiles and business intelligence.Generate new leads through networking and social selling.Respond to new opportunities and enquiries through lead management.Provide a service-level response to all inbound corporate enquiries.Undertake basic needs analysis with new enquiries to establish intent and assess opportunity size and type.Provide leadership to, and drive the performance of, the Business Development team, monitoring KPIs and targets.Mentor the Business Development team to identify, connect and nurture prospects through to sales‑qualified leads.Coordinate and organise meetings, events, webinars and marketing assets while presenting British Council products and services.Ensure new staff complete onboarding and that training needs are met.Capture and manage client and business data in CRM and other business systems.Respond to CRM workflows for assigned leads.Provide reporting on sales, service and marketing activity.Conduct market research to support developing new business opportunities.Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of British Council English and Assessment products to present effectively to potential clients.Collaborate with Marketing on developing messaging and sales collateral.Support the global sales operating model and ensure adherence to business processes and data governance.Requirements of the Role
At least 4 years of sales experience, including outbound B2B sales.Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM and prospecting tools.Experience managing a team.Local language proficiency at C2 level; Portuguese desirable.English proficiency at C1 level.Sales or Marketing qualifications.University degree or equivalent in a relevant subject.Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Statement
