Position Overview
The Business Analyst Manager is responsible for leading and strengthening the trading and business operations team in Colombia, ensuring the efficient and accurate execution of operations related to large-scale natural gas trading and delivery.
This position combines daily operational accountability with strategic leadership , overseeing a multidisciplinary team (Trading Operations and Credit & Risk Business) while maintaining close coordination with traders, accountants, and external stakeholders.
A key part of this role involves performing daily gas scheduling activities, ensuring accurate nominations, confirmations, and volume balancing across pipeline and utility systems. These duties will help the manager to fully understand the processes of their teams and to be working with their teams day-to-day on all activities.
The manager must be an analytical, structured, and people-focused leader, capable of mentoring the team, optimizing processes, and ensuring that operational execution aligns with business goals and corporate standards.
Responsibilities
Team Management (50%)
Lead, guide, and develop the Medellín team focused on trading operations, currently composed of Business Operations and Credit & Risk Analysts.
Train and mentor analysts on business and analytical skills to enhance their performance and long-term professional growth.
Foster a culture of high performance, continuous learning, and cross-functional collaboration, empowering the team to achieve excellence.
Promote process optimization and digital transformation, improving automation, reporting accuracy, and the flow of information across departments.
Manage the administrative and logistical needs of the Medellín operations team, including workspace coordination and general team support.
Represent the area in operational committees and executive meetings, presenting performance results, key findings, and process improvement opportunities.
Operational (50%)
Oversee and execute the daily gas scheduling process, ensuring accurate and timely pipeline nominations, volume confirmations, and system balancing across multiple utilities and platforms.
Monitor and adjust gas flows and operational constraints in real time, ensuring continuity of service and effective coordination with traders, customers, and utility representatives.
Design and implement optimization strategies to improve the gas scheduling process, ensuring compliance, timeliness, and operational efficiency.
Develop and maintain optimization models to anticipate and respond to system constraints, promoting stability and seamless communication between stakeholders.
Enhance communication strategies with counterparties and customers to strengthen responsiveness, improve issue resolution, and minimize operational risks.
Note : Occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations (approximately six times per year) may be required depending on operational needs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Economics, Finance, or a related analytical field.
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in leadership or managerial roles within operations, finance, or risk management.
Proven experience leading multidisciplinary analytical teams in fast-paced corporate environments.
Exposure to industries such as energy, financial services, consulting, logistics, or manufacturing.
Strong background in operational coordination, data-driven decision-making, and cross-departmental collaboration.
Familiarity with risk assessment, credit monitoring, and accounting fundamentals.
Demonstrated ability to analyze data, interpret KPIs, and drive process optimization.
