About the job

Tether and its affiliated entities (e.g. Bitfinex) are searching for an organized self‑starter to join our Regulatory and Licensing team. The successful candidate is someone with a deep understanding of legal and regulatory requirements pertaining to the crypto‑asset industry in Mexico and Colombia and who is excited by the opportunity to apply their existing regulatory experience in an exciting and dynamic business environment.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Regulatory Affairs & Licensing – Latin America, serving as the primary point of contact for regulatory and licensing matters within Mexico and Colombia. This is a senior position designed for professionals with proven experience engaging with or working within financial regulators, supervisory authorities, or policy‑making bodies. The ideal candidate combines strategic insight with hands‑on execution, demonstrates a diplomatic, solutions‑oriented approach in navigating complex regulatory environments, and is able to anticipate regulatory changes and adapt strategies proactively to evolving market and legal environments. You will represent the company in regulatory discussions, contribute to regional initiatives under the guidance of the Head of Regulatory Affairs & Licensing – Latin America, and ensure local implementation aligns with the company’s broader Latin American regulatory objectives.

To succeed in this role, the incumbent will continuously strive to self‑develop and enhance their skill sets including understanding the Company’s products and services, blockchain technology, crypto‑assets and the regulatory requirements. Engage with industry associations, chambers, and other stakeholder groups to promote innovation and collaboration.

You will have a focus around translating regulatory requirements in Mexico and Colombia into clear and actionable strategic recommendations, managing relationships and communications between various stakeholders both internal and external to the business.

Responsibilities

• Regulatory Strategy Development : development and execution of regulatory strategies, identifying preferable market / s in the region from which to operate. Ensure local implementation aligns with Tether’s broader Latin American regulatory objectives.
• Regulatory Advocacy and Collaboration : participating in regulatory agency interactions, engaging with relevant regulatory authorities, industry bodies, and policymakers to shape the regulatory landscape for stablecoin issuers, advocating for policies that promote innovation while ensuring safety and compliance. Actively contribute to public consultations, working groups, and industry forums, maintaining a high standard of professionalism and institutional diplomacy.
• Policy Analysis and Guidance : Provide analysis on local regulatory proposals, and advise the business on potential regulatory risks and opportunities, while driving initiatives to influence regulatory frameworks as well as monitoring for change across regulations to ensure proactive compliance. Produce concise internal policy briefs and recommendations to inform senior management decision‑making.
• Regulatory approval process : contribute to the process of obtaining necessary license approvals in identified markets, where appropriate. Support the preparation and coordination of documentation and responses to regulatory inquiries, ensuring strategic consistency and accuracy.
• Cross‑functional Leadership : Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., expansion, legal, compliance, finance) to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and to proactively address emerging regulatory challenges. Serve as the local regulatory lead, ensuring effective communication and alignment with regional priorities.
