Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank's Corporate, Investment Banking, and Capital Markets businesses.
The Role
GBME – Risk Technology is searching for a Technical Business Analyst to support a Counterparty Credit Risk Application.
The successful candidate will have a results-oriented and curious mindset with strong technical skills. You will work closely with cross functional teams, including engineers, solutions architects, and business teams to develop and implement market leading solutions that are scalable and deliver excellence, and value to our business partners and customers.
Brief Description Of Initial Project
Modernization project : Planning to move away with legacy database and market risk process and modernize the pipeline so that upgrades can be made quickly.
- 3 to 5+ years' experience in the capacity of a BSA
- 3 to 5+ years' recent and relevant experience with capital markets risk and financial risk (CCR Calculation and work with complex financial instruments, etc.)
As part of the role, you'll
Collaborate with other teams within risk management to gather requirements and provide updates on progressWorking alongside other BAs, developers, and project managersGenerate business requirements and documents that align to the policies to ensure that the new technology meets the needs of the business lines as they adapt to comply with policyAnalyzing existing processing and identifying opportunities for optimizationWork alongside developers and technical experts to develop functions or technical requirements that will provide the reference for new technology and new softwareDesign functional test cases and carry out the testing and valuation concurrently with developmentReview test results and identify corrective steps for complex issues across application boundariesUtilize strong written and verbal communication skills when conducting and facilitating presentations to stakeholders and managementExercise initiative and sound judgment in the execution of project plans and schedulesPerform ad hoc work as neededMinimum Qualifications
3 to 5+ years' experience in the capacity of a BSA3 to 5+ years' recent and relevant experience with capital markets risk and financial risk (VAR calculation and work with complex financial instruments, etc.)3 to 5+ years' experience with Python shell scriptingRecent experience in Sybase, Postgres SQLRecent hands‐on working experience with Unix / Linux is requiredExperience working across multiple teams and functions to ensure alignment.Experience working with all phases of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).Ability to adapt quickly to new processes and standards, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service.Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver working results.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Excellent working experience of Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).Preferred Qualifications
An understanding of the Bank's application system and software from a business / technical viewpoint is required to assess the impact of development and / or changes to the overall data processing environment).Experience with JIRA and Confluence is an asset.What's in it for you?

We are looking for an experienced
Business & Data Analysis Lead
to manage requirements sessions with cross-functional teams in Marketing and Engineering, defining analytics needs and identifying data gaps. This role requires excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills, as it involves acting as the bridge between business and technical stakeholders to ensure high-quality delivery of data and analytics solutions. The position potentially involves working with US clients in PST or stakeholders in India.

Lead requirements sessions with Marketing and Engineering to define analytics needs and data gaps.Document business and data requirements, logical models, and source-to-target mappings.Conduct gap analysis between current Databricks implementation and target architecture.Validate and document existing profile scripts using strong SQL skills.Develop and maintain clear documentation, including BRDs, data flow diagrams, ERDs, and gap analysis workbooks.Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise language for business stakeholders.Collaborate with delivery teams following structured methodologies (waterfall or hybrid).Facilitate workshops and discussions to ensure alignment across teams and stakeholders.Qualifications
5 years of experience in business and data analysis with IT product-related or analytics deliverables.Strong SQL proficiency for data validation and documentation.Solid understanding of data pipelines, ETL / ELT concepts, and Azure / Databricks environments (Delta Lake, medallion architecture).Familiarity with marketing data sources (MDW, DRINCC, SFMC) and customer data platforms (CDPs).Proven ability to create comprehensive documentation such as BRDs, ERDs, and data flow diagrams.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to translate between business and technical audiences.Experience working under structured or hybrid delivery models.Strong facilitation, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.Experience with Agile or Waterfall methodologies is a plus.Understanding of data architecture and analytics ecosystems in marketing contexts is highly desired.Additional Information
