Vice President, Strategy & Finance – Talento Ventures is a newly created role that serves as the key strategic planning, financial planning & analysis, and business formation leader for an emerging venture capital organization named TalentoVentures with operations in Medellin, Colombia & Miami, United States of America. TalentoVentures has been formed to incubate previous TalentoHumanCapital customers who have existing business ventures need to scale while also developing a pipeline of new business innovation from the same network of relationships. This network is comprised of 100’s of millionaires and successful entrepreneurs who have capital and successful businesses that require support in new business formation, business & commercial strategy, human capital strategy, organizational design, executive & professional recruiting, financial planning & capital strategy. Etc. TalentoHumanCapital is a on a growth trajectory in the $700b staffing and recruiting to achieve $1B in revenue by 2040.

    Job Summary

    As the Vice President, Strategy & Finance for TalentoVentures, you will found a venture capital fund that has developed from a 20 year legacy of driving the launch, growth, and optimizaition of businesses across the globe. The Vice President will contribute to the development of the organization long term and short-term business plans with a focus on planning, budgeting, and financial performance management. The CFO is a leadership position that contributes meaningfully to the strategy for the company with a well-rounded approach to general business matters across a variety of topics. Reporting to the CEO, the CFO ensures integrity by providing process knowledge, technical expertise, and reporting leadership with a strong focus on timeliness, accuracy, and consistency. The CFO’s management skills, knowledge of accounting and financial forecasting, and skillful partnership building with play a crucial role in advancing companies vision and goals. This role will drive the creation & maintenance of robust operating & financial models, manage annual budgets, oversee quarterly & annual planning process, track performance against forecast, and maintain a seat at the table in steering the business.

    Responsibilities

  • Leadership
  • Develop a comprehensive plan for the organization to plan and execute on its objectives.
  • Create balanced scorecards and define the organizations KPI’s for effective management.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to CEO and leadership team ensuring the organization is on track toexecute on itsshort-term and long-term growth plans.
  • Implement policies, procedures and processesto scaleandmanage the organization effectively.
  • Mentor and develop finance team, managing work allocation, systems training, performance evaluations, and the building of an effective and efficient team dynamic.Serve as talent champion developing the future leaders of the company.
  • Develop a holistic understanding of the company's financing needs and options.
  • Develop a strong “feel” for the business & operations. Constantly suggest and implement ways to improve business performance.
  • Work with executive leadership & functional heads to establish product-level P&Ls and department budgets.
  • Ensureallfinance &accounting functions (month-end close process, FP&A, treasury, tax, accounting, payroll, etc.) are operating smoothly.
  • Interface with institutional investor, private equity, banks, and multiple finance entities on behalf of the organization.
  • Venture Capital Fund Launch

  • Develop the investment & capital strategy to launch the venture capital fund in Colombia or USA.
  • Partner with legal firms to develop the appropriate legal dominion and corresponding entities.
  • Partner with the CEO of TalentoHumanCapital as the strategic lead for founding a venture capital fund, serving as the first member of the fund.
  • Portfolio Company Pipeline Development & Management

  • Develop end to end pipeline of companies to invest in.
  • Develop 10 year strategic plan by portfolio encompassing vision, mission, values, market fit, macro and microeconomics, financial models, investment thesis, and growth strategy to create the funds baseline of portfolio companies to be incubated and invested in.
  • Develop new pipeline opportunities.
  • Financial& StrategicPlanning

  • Develop overall venture fund organization FP&A strategy alongside each platform & portfolio companies financial strategy.
  • Set management cadences ongoing rhythms; Implement a method to managing the business financiallytaking into accountthe needs of the peer group and overall company.Coordinate Monthly Business Reviews and Materials.
  • Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the company’s plan for growth and expansion; Direct and coordinatean organization's financial or budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments, or increaseefficiency
  • Assess and evaluate financial performance of organizationwith regard tolong-termoperational goals, budgets and forecasts; Analyze operations to evaluate performance of a company or its staff in meeting objectives or to determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement, policy changeor revenue / profit optimization.
  • Analyze and review financial data, reporting financial performance, preparing budgets, and monitoring expenditures and costs.
  • Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability,as well as,investments and asset management areas.
  • Oversee monthly operating budget and annual company operating budget.
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and report variances;Review and analyze monthly financial results and providerecommendations
  • Compares performance with operating plans, budgets, and standards to interpret and report to CEO& leadership team.
  • Direct, plan, and implement accounting / finance policies, objectives, or activities for organizationin order toensure continuing operations, maximize returns on investments, or increase productivity.
  • Treasury & Debt Management

  • Lead the fundraising process with private equity, sovereign wealth funds, banking institutions ensuring adequate funding and ROI are delivered to all investors and shareholders.
  • Responsible for reporting to lenders / creditors..
  • Develop financial valuation models for capital investments.
  • Special Projects

  • Lead projects and perform other duties as directed by Private Equity investors or Business Unit leadership.
  • Education

  • Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar field
  • Experience

  • 10+ years of work experience, with a deep focus in finance across topics such as financial effectiveness, CFO advisory, process and policy, technology, operations, organizationalstructureand strategy, and / or transformation.
  • Experience in developing new businesses from greenfield to maturity.
  • Proven experience asa Finance executive in a high organization with expertise in organizingand professionalizingbusiness functions.
  • Exceptional practical knowledge of accounting and financial processes, including budgeting, financial closures, and reporting.
  • Significant experience working with external auditors, internalcontrolsand compliance-related issues.
  • Experienceleading business &finance transformationinitiatives.
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Expertise in accounting software
  • Superior attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning skills
  • Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
