The Impact of a Sr Enterprise Architect at Coupa: Owns the technical design and governance of Coupa's custom connector and MCP server portfolio. Sets the architecture standards agentic AI systems use to reach internal and third‑party systems securely and at scale, and provides hands‑on technical leadership to the integration engineering team. Define reference architecture for MCP servers and custom connectors: transport (stdio/SSE/streamable HTTP), auth, schema/versioning, error semantics, observability. Design and review connector specifications for internal systems (Coupa platform, NetSuite, SAP, Workday, Salesforce) and external partner APIs. Establish security and governance patterns: OAuth2/OIDC flows, credential/secrets management, least‑privilege scoping of agent tool access, audit logging. Own the technical roadmap and backlog prioritization for the integration team in partnership with the Sr. Director. Provide architecture review and code‑level guidance to AI Integration Engineers; unblock design decisions. Evaluate and select platform components (iPaaS, orchestration frameworks, agent SDKs, API gateways) for scalability and maintainability. Define and enforce testing/eval standards for connector reliability and agent tool‑calling correctness. Act as technical escalation point for production incidents involving connectors/MCP infrastructure. Partner with Security, Data Governance, and Enterprise Architecture on compliance requirements (SOC 2, data residency, PII handling). 8+ years in software/integration engineering, including 3+ years in an architect or technical lead role. Deep hands‑on experience building API integrations/connectors at enterprise scale (REST, GraphQL, gRPC, webhooks, event streaming). Working knowledge of MCP (Model Context Protocol) or comparable agent‑tool‑calling frameworks; understands transport, schema, and session‑lifecycle tradeoffs. Strong command of at least one of Python, TypeScript/Node.js, and proficiency reading the other. Practical experience with LLM/agent frameworks (Anthropic/OpenAI SDKs, LangChain/LangGraph, or equivalent) and tool‑calling design patterns. Solid grounding in identity/auth (OAuth2, OIDC, SAML), API security, and secrets management (Vault, AWS/GCP secret managers). Cloud platform experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes). Experience with enterprise systems integration (ERP, finance, procurement) - Coupa, NetSuite, SAP, or similar is a strong plus. Excellent written communication in English; able to produce architecture docs and lead design reviews with US/global stakeholders.
