This is a remote position.
Schedule : 9 : 00 AM – 6 : 00 PM (Downey, CA Time – PST)
Total Weekly Hours : 40 Hours
Our client is seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist with at least 3 years of experience in a healthcare office setting. The ideal candidate has a strong background working with PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) insurance plans and excels at providing compassionate, efficient support to both patients and medical staff. As the first point of contact, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming environment and ensuring a seamless patient experience from check-in to check-out.
Responsibilities
Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using EHR / EMR systems
Answer and direct incoming calls professionally and courteously
Verify insurance eligibility and coverage, with expertise in PPO plans
Collect co-pays, process payments, and explain basic billing questions to patients
Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Communicate clearly with patients about appointments, delays, and required paperwork
Coordinate effectively with doctors, nurses, and administrative staff to support clinic operations
Assist with administrative tasks such as medical forms, referrals, and authorizations
Manage front desk operations, including mail, faxes, and general correspondence
Handle patient concerns with empathy and escalate issues when necessary
Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a medical receptionist or in a similar healthcare administrative role
Strong knowledge of PPO insurance plans, coverage, and billing procedures
Excellent customer service skills with a patient-focused approach
High attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and basic medical terminology
High school diploma or equivalent (medical office certification a plus)
