Overview

About the role

We’re looking for a senior professional with deep experience in business development and strategic partnerships in the financial services or cross-border payments industry. This role will lead Tier 1 partner relationships — including money transmitters and payment networks — across South America, focusing on business growth, commercial negotiations, and service excellence. A strong mix of autonomy, relationship management, and a results-driven mindset is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales and marketing strategies that consider all stakeholders across the value chain — including the remitter (service user), point of sale, front-end intermediaries, back-end payment network partners, and beneficiaries — to drive deeper market penetration and increase company revenue.
  • Identify growth opportunities by conducting in-depth data analysis and market intelligence to evaluate current and potential payment network partners, enabling strategic decision-making and expansion planning.
  • Analyze industry trends, market conditions, and competitor landscape to develop informed strategic plans that position the company competitively and support long-term growth objectives.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling marketing proposals and business cases to existing and prospective payment partners, clearly articulating the value proposition and partnership opportunities.
  • Oversee the execution of marketing plans and initiatives, ensuring timely implementation, cross-functional alignment, and performance tracking to maximize ROI and overall effectiveness.

Key Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years in a senior or leadership role within financial services, banking, or fintech.
  • Proven track record in corporate relationship management, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with high-level stakeholders, including bank executives and key decision-makers.
  • In-depth understanding of cross-border payments, remittances, and financial services. Prior experience in the payments or money transfer industry is highly preferred.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written). While most clients are Spanish-speaking, fluency in English is essential for preparing presentations, reports, contracts, and communications with shareholders and international partners.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently, both domestically and internationally. This is a must.
  • Highly independent and self-driven, able to operate with minimal supervision and make strategic decisions.
  • Proactive in identifying and developing new markets and business opportunities, with a strong entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, with the ability to manage and close complex commercial agreements, define commission structures, and advocate for customer needs.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in fintech, international payment platforms, or multinational financial institutions.
  • A strong network within the financial or banking industry across Latin America and / or the U.S.
